SANTA LUCIA
Located in Corato, run by Giuseppe and Roberto Perrono Capano. The
37 hectares vineyard is positioned at 300m altitude. The producers rely
on indigenous grape varieties. Grapes are harvested by hand and wine
is aged in French Oak barriques. Their best wine, Le More Riserva 2004,
is made from the Uva di Troja grapes & has been recognized as one
of the top ten wines in Italy. They also produce a fine Fiano, a Negroamaro
and an Aleatico.
GIANFRANCO FINO
His ES Primitivo di Manduria has a structure and a character that will
leave you speechless every time you taste it. It's a wine of few words
and a massive impact. You need to taste it if you want to understand
the artfulness of Nature that listens to man's wishes only when it pleases
her. The vines are 50 years old, so you can imagine how concentrated
is the flavor. To make one bottle of wine they need grapes from 2 to
3 vines.
The vines grow like bushes - they are not trained in any way. Out of
respect for their age, perhaps? Obviously, the grapes are harvested
by hand. The wine ages in barriques for at least 1 year. |
